In April 2017, I became programming curator for the Fourth Bluff, a downtown Memphis civic engagement model that, as part of the national initiative Reimagining the Civic Commons, connects three public assets: Cossitt Library, Memphis Park and Mississippi River Park. Over the past six months, I've created several new programs for community collaboration and engagement. Examples include a public engagement project called Give Thanks, a collaboration with Memphis Animal Services called the Human Walking Program, a bikeability promotion with Revolutions Bicycle Cooperative, a Friday Night Dance Party on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River, and a Dinner Conversation held at Fire Station #5 to generate conversation between young black artists, collectors, gallerists, curators and arts institution professionals, and visiting conceptual artist Tavares Strachan.
